Sen. DeMint: People Are "Panicked" About Obamacare

Sen. Jim DeMint - who once said failure of President Obama's health care reform plan "will break him" and "be his waterloo" - talks to Greta Van Susteren about the outrage he is seeing from protesters.

"I've never seen people more panicked about what we're doing here in Washington," he says.

DeMint also explains a plan of his own to make healthcare work.

The interview is preceded by Obama "going back and forth" on single-payer universal healthcare, in clips from 2003 and 2007.

Don't let the radio talk guys (that make millions stirring people up) or politicians (on both sides) that think politics is governance ( it isn't)...

We all need to know what is in the actual legislation.

We all need to calm down. Otherwise the politicians, ( on both sides) the Insurance companies ( who are NOT on your side) and blow hard radio guys that make their living

inciting anger...will win. And we(America) will lose.

I plead with my conservative friends: PLEASE don't take seriously those that claim:

A. There are provisions that promote suicide or euthanasia.

B. Your bank accounts will be accessed by the government

C. The Government will run Hospitals

I have read the portions of the bill that the alarmist opposition claim support these things. But the bill says no such thing. Americans are frankly being lied to. This is nothing but dirty politics, turning citizens against each other.

Further, the draft House Bill (the one that is the most liberal) & most miss quoted by the right, will never see light of day. This will be decided in the Senate Finance Committee. They have all the cards. There's little chance they will include the provisions that the right is so up in arms about. I ask my conservatives friends to step back & relax.

A. The House is doing nothing but masturbating and or throwing feces at each other..and

B. Cooler heads will actually decide this.

John- it is good that you are looking at alternatives. However you are factually inaccurate when you say "Obama's plan is nothing more than a US version of CanadaCare or UKCare"

i don't know you well enough to know why you say this. Do you get your info from the political opposition?. Let me start by pointing out that Obama has not offered any particular plan. There are several (in draft form) in Congress. None of the plans before Congress resemble a Canadian style system...none.

Here in the UK we have the NHS, its 18x better then your private insurance options and its run by the government + as its a very small percentage of the tax, its a lot cheaper...

privet?  do you mean private? look at the Veterans Hospital....This is a prime example of Gov't Healthcare. It's pathetic compared to private insurance options. The system may be broke, but the solution is NOT more government involvement.
