Spirometry. If you are over 40 years of age, if you are now, or have been a smoker, then this is an important test to measure lung function for detection of early stages of lung disease. - Importance of screening for early detection of disease before you have symptoms. What is shown is actually a spirometry test. Peak flow measures how fast you can blow out in a single breath. Spirometry measures both how fast you can breathe out and how much (ie the volume of air) you can breathe out. If you take a deep breath and blow hard and fast but don’t completely empty your lungs then you are doing a peak flow measurement. If you keep blowing for as long as you can until your lungs feel completely empty of air then you are doing a spirometry test.

  • that's not spirometry shown, thats Peak Flow?
