    (the whole steering mechanism piece)

  • Skeelo,

hi and that you so much for the info, i have a problem maybe you could help, my BMW has no more keys copys and the dealer said i am at the max replacement of 10 keys made since the 1995 bmw 318i's birth...(easy key to lose apparently). i go the car from my ex gf (for 500 bucks) who knew i was mech inclined. so here i have a nice car but no key, can i change the key cylinder and complete underside assembly and at least get the mechanicals out of the way, what salvage yard did you use??

  • Have this problem on my 95 325i. Tried what this video said to bypass the key switch. It still doesn't turn over. replaced the starter also. Showing power to starter with key on. Still doesn't turn over. Anyone have any ideas what it might be? Need help fast..

  • this happened on my 328 i sport, it also happend on my friends e36 m3 3.0 L. as you said at the begining this is quite a common fault. good video man :-).

  • Thanks guy! just be careful not to lose that new (used) key as there will be no way for the dealer to order you a spare. Altho at the price you got it, it would be cheaper to buy ANOTHER ignition, vice ordering a key for $50-$100 depending on your dealer mark-up
