From the gigantic billboards in Edsa to television commercials, bronze-colored models and celebrities made up to look like sun-kissed goddesses have dominated the fashion world, proving that the "kayumanggi" color is the newest trend to follow! Hosts Miriam Quiambao and Joaquin Valdes explore the legends and stories behind our now-famous skin color on 100% Pinoy in its opening episode for the month of June.
Who would ever think that a petite morena from Camarines Sur would change the landscape of Philippine show business? When Superstar Nora Aunor started in the 1960s, she revolutionized the entertainment world with her very Filipina features, paving the way for the influx of brown-skinned actors and actresses in showbiz. Host Miriam Quimbao interviews Alfred Vargas, who rose to stardom not just because of his acting skills, but also because of his unique "moreno" image.
100% Pinoy also discovers the advantages of being "kayumanggi" in different disciplines, from the medical field to the world of fashion and beauty pageants. Host Joaquin Valdes interviews Tweetie de Leon, and discovers how the Filipino supermodel overcame the discrimination brought about by her skin color. 100% Pinoy also meets Abby Cruz, a mestiza beauty queen who regularly goes to tanning centers to achieve the perfect "morena" look. Lastly, get to know Charo Ronquillo, a New York based Filipina model who won 3rd place in the prestigious Ford Supermodel of the World competition because of her "exotic" look.
Despite the rising popularity of our skin color, a recent survey revealed that 4 out of 10 Filipino women in the Philippines still prefer to have a whiter complexion. Host Miriam Quiambao presents the different ways that Filipinos use to achieve a fairer skin -- from using cheap glutathione soap bars in Divisoria to the expensive skin whitening procedures of well-known medical groups in the country.

Ipapakita rin ng 100% Pinoy ang pagdami ng mga tanning centers sa Kamaynilaan, isang prosesong kinahuhumalingan ngayon ni Abby Cruz, ang 2007 Bb. Pilipinas 2nd runner-up.
Sa kabila ng pagsikat ng kulay kaligatan, lumabas sa isang pag-aaral na 40% ng mga Pinay ang nagnanais pa ring maging maputi! Aalamin ni Miriam ang mga bagong paraan ng mga Pinoy ngayon para magkaroon ng maputing balat, mula sa P10 glutathione soap sa Divisoria hanggang sa mga libo-libong presyo ng whitening procedures sa mga sikat na medical groups.
