For the first time ever at UCLA during World Laboratory Animal Week which is an annual event designed to expose the plight of animals used for testing and research there were organized rallies of proponents for and against animal testing.

Many believe the time has come for dramatic change. With a wide and growing array of non-animal research methods rendering vivisection increasingly obsolete, animal experiments conducted today could be eliminated with the full-scale implementation of non-animal methods - without risk to human health. However, the research, drug and chemical industries - entrenched in animal research for legal, economic and political reasons - perpetuate the myth that animal experimentation is necessary.

Speakers in this video in order of appearance are:
Michael Budkie - Executive Director of Stop Animal Experimentation Now - http://www.SAENonline.org
Dr. Elliot Katz - President of In Defense of Animals - http://www.idausa.org
Unknown Pro-Science Speaker
Dr. Armaiti May
Kathy Guillermo - Director of Laboratory Investigations Dept. of PETA - http://www.StopAnimalTests.com
Dr. J. David Jentsch, Ph.d - UCLA Faculty

  • I think animal testing is wrong. Animals are alive and feel pain therefore they should not be an option. It is inhumane to rationalize animals testing.Where will they draw the line, its seems to me they don't have one. The first tests to go should be product testing, why should animals suffer so much pain for products we really don't need. Its the love of money. We will pay for our blatent diregard for thier lives. We are all responsible for this travesty.

  • He talks about hundreds of events in the UK and he's talking out of his arse. They weren't hundreds a year of He's talking about one incident. "Grave-robbings" it happened once! There was no "one day of the British public saying no more". The majority of people in the UK are against animal-experimentation.

I am disgusted to see this silly man lying through his teeth. It makes me more determined to see the end of his actions and the end of his horror world.

  • there is absolutely different alternatives to the use for testing other than vivisection, covance research, necrospy. There is a way to clone micro-orgasms, human cells, tissue and so forth examined in a lab dish. There is no need to torture these sentient beings just to find a cure that is insignificant to humans as it is. These animals advocators are not terrorist they are just trying to save lives!

  • @batcountryrabid

You're sick trying to replace animals with humans as if animals have any better morals than the killer.

  • I just never understood the mindset that people have that animals are somehow less than us. I understand if animal testing has maybe done a few positive things, but if there are other alternative, then let's stop this. It's just selfish of us.

  • lol at that dumb fag fuck animal testing

  • @TheArcherofire TL;DR

  • Rabbits and humans are not the same animal. You can't do AIDS research on a dog. Splenda caused so much damage to mice, but doesn't do jack to humans. Most companies do just fine without experimentation. Besides, we can donate skin cells, and if worse comes to worse, experiment on death row prisoners.

  • Harvey went on to prove how the blood circulated in a circle by means of countless experiments initially done on serpents and fish: tying their veins and arteries in separate periods of time, Harvey noticed the modifications which occurred; indeed, as he tied the veins, the heart would become empty, while as he did the same to the arteries, the organ would swell up.

  • Galvani dissected a frog at a table where he had been conducting experiments with static electricity. Galvani's assistant touched an exposed sciatic nerve of the frog with a metal scalpel, which had picked up a charge. At that moment, they saw sparks and the dead frog's leg kick as if in life. The observation made Galvani the first investigator to appreciate the relationship between electricity and animation — or life

  • Between 1901 and 1910, Alexis Carrel, using experimental animals, performed

every feat and developed every technique known to vascular surgery today.

Unmodified or regular insulin was processed from porcine and bovine pancreas and was the only type of insulin available for clinical use until the mid-1930s More than 100,000 monkeys were killed in the course of developing the polio vaccines. One rhesus monkey, when killed, supplied sixty-five doses of vaccine.

  • There is no "for"...“Animal studies are done for legal reasons and not for scientific reasons. The predictive value of such studies for man is meaningless.”; - Dr James D. Gallagher; Director of Medical Research; Lederle Laboratories; Journal of the American Medical Association; March 14 1964.;
