Input voltage 7.9 vdc from standard 9v battery. Operational current at start 48ma. 38 white LED's are driven with the Thomas Oscillator. Audio feedback between the circuit and a AM broadcast radio is noted during operation. The core is broken and two halves moved closer and farther to achive greater light output. My scope is broken so no further measurements have been taken. I do not detect any circuit heating during operation.

  • may not be feedback ... rather it could be just a carrier wave in the am band. The oscillator likely emits radio waves on various harmonic frequencies.

  • Feedback could be acoustic disturbance of assembly or due to emf from driver coil.

  • Nice setup,

try a litz coil or a hand wound 10 to 50 turn coil directly before the Avramenko plug and put it addiotionally onto the core. This will even light up the LEDs still much brighter with less input current.

    Many thanks.

    Regards, Stefan.

  • Excellent job! Nice work on discovering the feedback phenomenon. I like your use of the low tech am radio approach which allowed you to hear something others had not, and now might lead to who knows what?
