Perhaps since only sub-deacons can get married before they become Full deacons subsequently Priests, the groom is outfitted with the attire of the highest position of a married priest which is Cor-Episcopos. The standard attire consists of usually shades of red or purple but can also be pink, therefore what is seen here. From my knowledge, after the marriage ceremony, the pink cloak (kuppayam) is usually gifted to a Cor-Episcopos, since it is not part of a deacon's ecclesiastical vestment.
