Steve Levitt, author of the book Journey to the Mountain-A Roots tale, performs this historical fiction story for an elementary school in North Carolina. The adventure story tells about the history, journeys and challenges faced by the Cherokees, African slaves and Europeans who settled the Southern Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina and contributed to the music and roots of the American traditional folk dance known today as "Clogging." Steves clog dances and plays fiddle, bones, spoons, jaw harp, African drums and other folk instruments to make the story and history come alive. The book is available from LuLu Press www.lulu.com/content/285625 and Riverimage.com has a free on-line and also IPOD download of an interview with the author.
