PART 3 of 3

PART 1: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=sXDKt5Momtg
PART 2: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=JdjLVAZqCmA

FINAL EFFECT CAN BE SEEN HERE: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=C5rxjk5rqAI

This tutorial shows you how to create the liquid metal effect as seen in Terminator 2. To do this tutorial, you must have Maya 2009, because of the new nParticles feature.

I apologize if you don't think I'm very good at this whole video tutorial thing, this was my first try.

The resources it mentions in the tutorial can be downloaded here: http://www.freewebs.com/coldsidedigital/resources.zip

If you use this tutorial and make a cool effect, or even if you just make whats in this tutorial, please post it as a video response, I would love to see peoples work.

Feel free to leave comments asking questions, even if its not about this tutorial in general. Requests for tutorials will also be accepted.

You can find the Video-FX-Universe forum mentioned in the tutorial here: http://s7.invisionfree.com/Video_Fx_Universe/

EDIT: Forgot to mention a big thanks to Cheesewiz from CGTalk. He showed me the method used in this tutorial. The post can be found here: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=86&t=698431

So sorry for not mentioning you earlier!

  • Could you write a similar tutorial for Lightwave 3D????

  • Sorry, but I'm not a Lightwave user. I'm not sure if its even possible in lightwave, but you should be able to take some of the concepts over into lightwave.

  • Brilliant stuff. Just beginning to touch maya, so this is quite advance for me. But anywho, great tutorial, hopefully i can do something cool with it after I get the hang of the basics.. (:

  • Hey thanks for the comment :) I suggest subscribing to my channel, as I will be doing many more Maya tutorials, as well as basics, in the future :)
