Is the Old Latin Mass Charismatic?

Father, As a "Black Female" who is a Roman Catholic I see that when people label themselves one color or another they separate themselves. Roman Catholic is Roman Catholic. This African American Catholic stuff is ignorant. WE ARE ROMAN CATHOLIC and the beauty and mystical form of the EXTRAORDINARY FORM or Latin Mass is a living prayer. When people start to make a "Mass" into there so called culture it become dangerous. This PC attitude on making a "Mass" fit the peoples culture is liberalism.

Dear jjoeiness - It is not what you want or what people want. If you want that go to burger king and have it your way. The universal church is meant for everyone not everyones different ideas on how to pray the Holy Mass. IE clown masses,halloween masses, or any culture who wants to add dress or drums, or any other hand clapping.

Well said GFCC. There should be one Roman rite, period. And that should be the TLM. Then we'll truly be universal again -- and not just a universal disaster.

@GodFamilyCountryCorp I believe our cultures and heritage ought to inform how we worship our God in the various expressions of his church.

As an example consider the great diversity (even of Mass text) between Eastern and Western Catholics. The iconic, incense-infused, all-chant mass of the East versus the rich hymnody of the West. Both of which are valid, apostolic expressions of the mass.

If the Roman Catholic Church is to be universal it must also be diverse.

I think there's a confusion here between musical accompaniment of the liturgy and the liturgy itself.
