A very Classy and Beautiful lady. When I started watching Dr.Who, she was the first companion I lilerally fell in love with. Through all the other Dr. Who companions , Elisabeth Sladen always stood out as the best in my mind.I truly will miss her, She was always beautiful at any age. RIP Lis.

@TheBigBlueBox Don't beat yourself TheBigBlueBox, you are an amazing addition to the Doctor Who Fan community. "You know" is what we say when we are looking for the words to express our feelings.
My heart goes out to you, sorry to hear about your father. My Fiancee and I love your channel and missed you terribly. When you came back we were shocked to hear that had happened in your life. All the best, germanchap.

Thanks for this, thebigbluebox.
On the Monster of Peladon commentary, Barry Letts said Lis was "a fantastic actress" with the "same charisma as Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker that made you want to watch her". But even beyond that I feel Lis truly grabbed the audience by the heart and you could't help but love her.
We connected to Lis/Sarah, in a personal way that not even Pertwee or Baker could manage, and that is why the entire WHO world is so genuinely stunned and hurt at her passing.

Hard to imagine another old series companion being able to carry a series. Romana II perhaps, though I doubt Lalla Ward would be interested (and really, that would just be Doctor Who with a female lead - not different enough from the main series to be justified). Ace could and having fronted a number of kid's shows on the Beeb Sophie Aldred would be well suited to lead a CBBC Who spinoff. And then there's Jo who was a highlight of SJA last year but is the Jo character a lead? Liz Shaw - bit dull

I love the Sarah Jane Adventures and just the Sarah Jane character. So yeah this is really tough to deal with. I can only hope they managed to film some of the upcoming season of Sarah Jane. Would be nice to be treated to a final few stories with her in them! :o(

And I totally hear what you say, it's like losing a member of your family... I'm a New Who fan... but she was really amazing. :( :( So much cancer, all the time. My dad died of it last year, my friend has it... it's awful.

I was so heartbroken when I heard she'd died. She was so awesome. Cancer is everywhere these days. Shaving my head this week, for a friend of mine, but in memory of Lis too.

@TheBigBlueBox Don't beat yourself up. You were speaking from the heart about someone you admired. I'm sure Sladen heard your words from Heaven and appreciates it. I'm sure she'd not mind a few "you know"s.
God I threw this up hastily... I didn't realize how many times I said "you know"... ugh :(
