We built a device to automatically balance a horizontal beam as weights are added to either end.

This robot uses a Vernier Low-g Accelerometer to measure the tilt of a long beam. At the start, there are 10 gram weights on each side of the horizontal beam. As weights are added or removed, the beam unbalances and tilts. The accelerometer senses the tilt, and the NXT motor moves the balance point of the balance beam left or right in order to balance it again. Some RCX parts were used in this project.
