When the government considers outsourcing jobs, the main argument in support of it is that it costs less. Well, where do those cost savings come from in particular? This segment addresses the full costs of an employee and attempts to clarify where the cost savings between government and commercial industry are most likely to come from. Please note, this is generally speaking.

    One thing I've noticed with my contractor counterparts when it comes to benefits is they're paid a health and welfare premium. For instance, I've noticed in GSA Advantage! listings there is a $3.25 per hour health and welfare premium given to contracted employees. The interesting part is some companies have paid vacations in addition to this premium, while others state it's included in the premium.
