Episode 62 Gay Icons Explained: Elizabeth Taylor (The Third In A Series) Recently I had some younger gays write to me asking about the genergaytion gap that exists between younger and older gay men. I think one of the things new gays dont understand is how the gay icons can be clichés and still relevant today. In this series, watch my take on the gay icons. Hmmm, Elizabeth Taylor is someone I've just never got. She seems like she would be very tiring to be around. Can you imagine getting a drink with her? She's very weak (let Richard Burton hit her) and has got the personality of Donna Martin from 90210 but is obv 1000 times more attractive. However, as far as her AIDS work goes, she is a godsend.

MJJLWolf, I get that vibe a little too. Some things to consider. She was raised in the studio system which was wonderful but also treated the stars like abused children, telling them what to say and do and then punishing them if they didn't stay in line. Watch her in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and then Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolf - I think she ended up really coming into her own and of course her work for the gay community as you stated is a godsend.
