This is a video I made for an English project. I was presenting the ideas of historical criticism and to what extent history affects one's perspective of literature and vice versa.
I showed this video after we read Jame Emanuel's poem "Emmett Till"
Emmett Till
I hear a whistling
Through the water.
Little Emmett
Wont be still.
He keeps floating
Round the darkness,
Edging through

Ya a child was murdered for whisteling, but whatever it was his own fault. If he just accepted his second class status he wouldn't have been wrapped in barbed wire and thrown into a river. My grandmother always said that we were related to Emmit Till,he was a distant cousin.I wasn't born then,so I'm not sure and my grandma is gone now.But if he is,God rest his soul,he didn't know what awaited him,just for doing things that young boys do.I can't stand the ignorance of that time and alot of it is still so prevalent,its scary to think about the consequences of living and even just kidding around back then.
