I didn't see a live or studio version of this song on YouTube yet. I really like it, so I think you probably might, too!

I believe this is a Flesh for Lulu cover. I also believe this was a hidden song on the 'Stereo' album.

Lyrics:
A postcard from paradise
Delivered by mortal hands
X marks the spot where you lay
Now the sun burns down on the sand

I watched you sleeping
Listened to you breathing
Wondered if you were dreaming, andf if you were
What were you dreaming?
And I fell under your spell
And I lay where I fell
So wind down your window
I think I'm gonna kiss you
I dont know what else to do
You send me

Postcards from paradise
Say I want you
You send me
Postcards from paradise
Yeah, you do
Like a car broke down in the rain
I just can't get started again
I want you
I want you to stay

Postcards from paradise
Delivered by mortal hands
X marks the spot where you lay
Now the sun burns down on the sand

There goes love again
7 day wondering
Out on the ledge again
Your'e threatening to jump again
Here comes temptation
Dragging it out again
Riding a bullet train
To your central nervous station
And I fell under your spell
And I lay where I fell
So wind down your window
I think I'm gonna kiss you
I dont know what else to do
You send me

Postcards from paradise
Say I want you
You send me
Postcards from paradise
Yeah, you do
Like a car broke down in the rain
I just can't get started again
I want you
I want you to stay
You send me

  • @sagn

I only answer to Bertha Malarkey.

  • @ravengoo The Goo Goo Dolls once were a pretty good band. Today, they serve the purpose of reminding me that the fact the Replacements never "made it big" is actually a good thing, if they had to do a GGD-like transformation in order to get there. Their version of this song is typical safe, polished & boring GGD-lite crap.

To each his own, but if you like their version over this one that speaks volumes about your taste in music.

  • "This goes out to Bertha and Mularkey...."

  • @ravengoo Johnny Rzeznik WAS a very good songwriter, however, he never came close to Paul. These days he doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Westie.

  • The Goo Goo Doll's version is a hundreds times better than this one, even though John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls is a huge Westerberg fan/friend. They even wrote a song together back in the day. I think Westerberg sounds like a very drunk Keith Richard's singing in the shower here, and that's not a compliment. His music just blows! No bad feedback! We all have different opinions regarding music.

  • @Apanzon Fair critique on your part, but it's Paul.....and thank God.... it's Paul

  • great cover song by Paul!

  • One thing I've consistently disliked about many of Paul's "basement" era songs is his insistence on DIY drumming -- he's just simply not very good.

Yet, for this song -- it really fucking works.

  • doesn't sound like P.W.

  • The only thing i don't love about this version is that he sings "ready to jump again" instead of "threatening to jump again". Might be silly, but thats the best part of the song. ^^
