My ex girlfriend (one of the people I care most about in the world) lost her dad this week after a years-long battle with cancer. I had only just found out and, as always, went to play the piano and think about it.

I find most the themes I write on the spot - like the ones here - get easily lost as I don't ever go back to dig them up generally and so I figured, given the context, I'd keep this whether it turned out great or terrible.

I wanted to capture the raw emotion first of a stunned sentimental feeling which was my own reaction, and then build it up into something far emotionally overtaking as I t thought it must be like in her shoes, before quieting it down to the original theme with a hint of hope and resurrection.

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS." - Matthew 11:28-29

  • man this is really good. i don't know why there aren't more views here. being honest when i say it's some of the most beautiful music i've heard in a long time. i would definitely buy this if it were being sold in a high quality version...not to take away from the event..but just to say that it's damn good and valuable/healing for the soul...

  • @sacredfeeling29 Ah, thanks so much. I noticed you posted it on your wall - I appreciate that. :) This was actually for her family as well - just a tough time all the way around. But there's always a silver lining. Thanks for the support!

  • good, I wish I could play the piano like that...

  • @96chocoholic Thanks guys :) Well...Im sure you could do a lot better than me - I was kicked out of piano lessons when I was a boy because I was too busy composing and never practicing, so I had to teach myself from there :)

  • Beautifully emotive music! After reading your description, I closed my eyes to really feel what you were expressing. Thank you so much for posting this. ~Anna

  • This song is really beautiful, and to know why you composed it makes it even more moving, i'm sorry for the loss of your loved one... it's not easy to loose a parent.

  • beautiful :)

  • You put so much feeling into this beautiful piece. You remind me very much of myself, in the way you express your heart through music when faced with the emotions of life. It was very refreshing to read the scripture passages you posted with the video, they are such a wonderful reminder of where TRUE hope and comfort lies. May the Lord bless you, and continue to give you songs!

“Your statues have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.” – Psalm 119:54
