Halloween Mass

The following clips were captured at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Aliso Viejo, California. The parish bulletin encouraged parishioners to wear Halloween costumes to Mass. The segment includes Eucharistic Ministers dressed as a huntsman and a devil, as well as an organist dressed as a devil. The 6 min clip ends with Fr. Fred Bailey leaving before the end of Mass, returning shortly thereafter in his "Barney" costume.

First, my deepest sympathies for your tragedy. And please dont assume because I'm a Traditionalist Catholic than I'm just a heartless,rigid complainer who justs want to be heard but no to listen. As a bedside nurse, I've learned never to assume patient's "act this way" because of That said, I don't automatically honor and respect those who show up on Sunday. And when the costumes/loud music/etc are added on top of it all.

Again, if one thinks that the Mass should be "entertaining", then I would seriously question his understanding of the mass...

You didn't answer the question. Would you rather listen to a monotone speaker or a vibrant speaker preaching Jesus' words?

But, mayber you have a point...maybe mass should just be a free-for-all. Lets spruce it up a bit do some improve, make some changes. Do what ever the indivdual community wants...lets do away with notions like sacrifice and reverence...lets get rid of the Holy Eucharist...Make it entertaining...pack the house...thank you for opening my eyes...or why reinvent the wheel, lets just go to a protestant service

What a great Christian attitude you have. I guess you don't remember Jesus' words about love thy neihgbor as thyself or let the one who is without sin cast the first stone. Do you not love yourself, or are you without sin?

You say TRUE CATHOLICS refuse to celebrate Halloween because it is against God's commandment. Where does GOD or JESUS say it is ok to pray to saints? As far as killing those who don't share your beliefs, what about the Crusades? Weren't they true Catholics?

So you believe that people are either Catholic and going to heaven or are not Catholic and not going to heaven? Very scary view. Don't forget Jesus was a JEW!

Lay people pour the wine at every Catholic church I have been to. As far as using a flagon, which is a glass, pottery or metal container used to hold wine at a table, what else do you suggest be used? I guess churches in CA, NV, ME, and OR are all in violation...
