The Elements and Principles of Design

It always surprises me when I teach the elements of design to see how well students respond to the "rules". Just by knowing the name of an element gives them confidence to approach a work of art. Each element provides the student with guide lines that help focuses their attention on one aspect of a work of art.

This program will help students understand how the combination and emphasis of the various elements help in appreciating the design of a painting. Doing this also helps to earn how to see with greater sensitivity and insights into an artist's expression.
