  • i'm writting this comment just to hear the sound you all are talking about.

  • @corky064 Well to each his own, but my real beef with the campaign is summarized by total halibut. no freedom

    /watch?v=qnn4bG1tj-E

  • @luckygodzilla95 And yet I still found this experience more immersive than Half-Life 2.

There's just no winning with some people. Nobody will ever be satisfied with games, no matter what developers decide to do. If these kinds of games are considered "shit", then I am perfectly happy with this. These "shitty QTEs" immerse me and I find them fun. In the end, that's what matters. I have fun, while others complain about it.

  • @corky064 going further into his quote "except bf3's qte's are of that variety that are somehow even worse than regular qte's, where there is a rather insultingly generous time limit on pressing the button. So it's not even press x to not die, it is press x to continue on whatever you were doing. It often happens during scripted melee, so your attacker will keep hitting you until you press x. I however recommend holding off on an hour or two and actually get some enjoyment out of it."

  • @luckygodzilla95 Funny, I was just watching him, too.

Again, I come to the point of actually DOING something in a fight scene. Sort of like in real life when there's a fist coming at you and you have to make a split-second decision.

  • @corky064 as yahtzee so eloquently puts it "and for an all to brief happy time i thought i had achieved something in my life by communicating that qte's are gameplay design at its absolute worst, because they are essentially the same thing as pressing the pause button on a remote except you have to rewind the film five to ten minutes if you don't push it fast enough."

  • @luckygodzilla95 Because they are Play Station exclusives. I don't own a Play Station.

The "press X to not die" slander is bullshit. Holy shit! You're in a fight! You actually have to DO something!

I can't say that having the ability to control a camera in third person perspective makes me feel more "in control".

  • @corky064 God of war the flow is seamless between the game play and the press x not to die segments. That's not true with bf3. mgs3/4 (why u no play D:) is a lot more subtle, allowing you to switch camera angles and zoom in, making you feel like a director.

  • @luckygodzilla95 How? I haven't played either of those, so I'm not sure how they work in those games.

I like the QTEs. It made it feel more immersive during those one-on-one fight scenes, especially at the end. How would you modify those scenes so it flows better?

  • @corky064 heh interactivity isn't bad when it's entertaining and seamlessly flows into the experience, ala mgs3/4 or god of war. The transitions in the bf3 campaign are too jarring.
