During World War II Japanese Americans were rounded up and down the West Coast and shipped to internment camps. One was the famous racetrack Tanforan in San Bruno. Home of the famous racehorse Seabiscuit

  • japs ? Japanese ? I call them Americans. Hopefully, some of you will get a chance to read my novel of WWII and an American girl on Okinawa, and how she dealt with racism.

  • Does anyone know if there is a museum that I can visit in the SF bay area of an actual Japanese internment camp?

  • Tanforan is just 10 minutes from my house in SF.

  • Santa Anita was another racetrack that served as a temporary holding area for the Japanese before they were carted off to the camps. They had to sleep in the horse stables, with manure-scented hay as their beds.

  • Why does history keep repeating itself?
