Hi Peter. What a wonderful breath of fresh air to watch your videos on here! So many times I find vulgarity. swearing, violence etc etc on youtube. It's really lovely to hear your stories - please don't stop! From Jack aged 13 years.

Peter very good story some people do not realize how much our animals go through during war time I love all of your stories please keep up the good work I am working on something like this with my grandmother she is 98 years old and it's always good to learn our past

Peter, at that time we lived close by at Gorse Rd., but bearing in mind that I was only 4 when the war ended, I was not aware of these events. My mother told me that when I was still a small baby, a German fighter unexpectedly swooped down machine gunning over Thorpe when she stood by the back door holding me in her arms on a nice summer day. Apparently one of the bullets embedded itself in the door frame, missing my head by just a couple of inches.

@derekcolman Seems that we did live in the same area. Thanks for that comment. I too remember going to school through the town trough the bombed streets and the street being machine gunned. Kinda scary!!
