even though obama is half black/white, he will be able to identify as white but with the one drop rule being applied, he is considered black.

African identity in the Americas is a very interesting topic, one that could fuel many episodes. You bring up interesting points, especially the "one drop" perception, which is applied to all non-whites but is especially strict with people with African origin. The issues between Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Americans are also very interesting, and on a greater scale Pan-Africanism and how it has come about.

I'm from the UK and mixed-race people here (a majority of them) proudly call themselves mixed-race and see Obama as such.

Of course, some ignorant Blacks...and whites are upset by this, but that's their own insecurities that they need too sort out.

Obama in my factual view is the first Mixed-race (Bi-racial for you Americans) president not the first Black president of the USA. In Britain, we have the first mixed-race racing champion in the world. Oh, I'm a Black English brother.

Obama is a man of 2 rac-groups he is mixed-race not Black.

I think you would have to be blind not to be able to see that either that or haft to be in denial and just keep telling yourself that he looks only black because it makes you feel better about looking and not being able to pass as anything besides black yourself ( not saying you just speaking in general
