  • Do you find that stainless blades are more brittle than carbon blades, i.e. do the stainless blades chip more easily? For example, some people complain that the Fallkniven blades chip with hard use. Have you found this to be true? Do you hard use knives chopping wood or do you only use them for dressing game? Thanks.

  • @888zzz I think stainless steels are soft and NOT tough. I believe many stainless steels other than S30V take micro rolls easily and then bad steels take micro chips on the rolls. Hard steel is brittle. D2 semi stainless steel and 3G stainless steel take micro chips without micro rolls. Generally carbon steels are tough. A2 goes scary sharp and stays sharp long without micro chipping. I use knives only in hunting. But getting back straps or a skull is a fairly hard job to the edge. Thank you!

  • Can you say what magnification you're using?

  • @dchinell Yes. The binocular microscope is ×20, and the camera zoom is ×5, so in total ×100. Fallkniven's micro edge is not visible in bare eyes. Thank you.

  • Excellent and informative as usual -- thank you. Now I have a better understanding of the edge profile fallkniven puts on their knives.

If you don't mind my asking which video camera are you using?

  • @knives2have Thanks. My video camera is SANYO Xacti waterproof model.

  • @leecfb000 contrast auto focus will become a thing of the past soon !

  • You should turn off automatic focus. Otherwise it will keep blurring when you move something.

  • I like Your Revues on Youtube very much.

Thank you! Wish You the best and keep up the good work...from Finland .

  • Thank you for adding some science to our blade discussions. Very good work, and very useful. You really give us something to think about.

  • @KingKongAces Stropping off the secondary flat micro edge seems to take much time. Fallkniven might be the sharpest out of the box, but might not be the sharpest after hard use. Bark River is the sharpest in the world after the hard use because it is very easy to strop. For the people who love stropping, the secondary micro edge is useless in my opinion.
