Dempsey:
I used to listen to your grandfather's ads on Sacramento radio all the time in the 1960s.
At that time, I was aware of the song "Detour" and of Paul Westmoreland.
But it wasn't till the 1970s that I realized "Okie Paul" and Paul Westmoreland were the same person!!
Just a classic tune--originally done by your grandfather, with Jimmy Walker singing--late 1945 I think, when Marty Robbins was a teenager.

WHAT!, my grandfather wrote this song!
"Okie paul westmoreland" Ring a bell??

Don't forget Duane Eddy had a hit with this as an instrumental in 1959.

here we go again. a fantastic song by the man himself. a unique voice,, a unique man. i just wish i could have seen him.
It's always mystified me sissyfuss how Marty was so underrated. He was a simply wonderful vocalist who not only could sing any kind of song, but also write them as well. Thanks for your kind comments on me posting the Marty clips. It thrills me to know that some people around the world are seeing them for the first time and realizing how great he really was.
