Sir John Goss (27 December 1800 -- 10 May 1880) was an English organist and composer[2], perhaps best known for his hymn tune Praise my Soul, the King of Heaven[3] to words by Henry Francis Lyte.
He was born in Fareham where his father was organist at the parish church[4] and studied under Thomas Attwood[5], whom he succeeded as organist at St. Paul's Cathedral in 1838[6]. He was a contemporary of James Turle at Westminster Abbey. Goss's own pupils included Arthur Sullivan and Frederic Hymen Cowen[7].
As a composer, he is best remembered for his Anglican church music[8] and glees. His Evening Service in E major was very popular in its day. His anthem O Saviour of the World is also widely performed, as are many of his Anglican chants[9]. Goss was knighted in 1872[10] and died in London[11]. A century later The Fareham Society added a Blue Plaque to his former home.[12]
Does anyone have a video recording of the version of Psalm 23 by G.A Macfarren (Full Anthem)? I would be very grateful if you could upload it please. We'll be singing it in Church, and I just want to use it to rehearse along with it. Thanks and GOD Bless.

We recorded this on a tape as well as many others when i was a young counter tenor at Ossett Parish Church. An appropriate psalm to comment on as most of the choir men have now joined the choir of heaven. Happy memories. Thanks for posting and God bless!!!
