Robin Turner (Craig Russell), a Toronto drag queen, leaves for New York to start a career as stage performer. Unfortunately this means leaving behind his schizophrenic roommate and friend Liza (Hollis McLaren) to her family who are determined to hamper her dreams of freedom from psychiatric facilities and her wish to raise a child.
This off-beat comedy was a groundbreaker at the time. Outrageous! played to thirty countries around the world in 1977 to critical acclaim. The film made Craig Russell a star with his uncanny talent of remarkable visual and vocal performances of the likes of Mae West, Judy Garland and Bette Davis.
It is still today considered a classic about gay life and human relationships as the unlikely couple learn to find love and trust in each other, gradually learning that they may be saner than those around them.

Craig Russell and Hollis McLaren were brilliant. One of the best film friendships ever! This film was made for pennies and outshines all of these 100 million dollar ego-hand jobs spewing out now.
