Go to the piano blog for the complete lesson with notation and explanation.

This is one of the most common blues piano licks slowed down.
This is the one I probably use the most.

The other stuff is a 251 lick leading into the crossover lick.

It looks a lot nicer in high quality.
I had to rewind a few times to really get all the notes from the slowed down section. I'm sure if you're learning it for the first time, you'll have to rewind as well!

  • hi do you no of any more crossover licks, maybe slighly more technical? i always played this lick with the minor note, simply using the major note instaed also sounds great though!

  • Yeah there are a few variations but they are all kind of based of this one. Just think of different ways you could play this one.

    I'll add some others eventually!

  • What were the left hand chords he was playing?

  • i'm playing dminor, G7, Cmajor

  • great thanks, do you use pedal anywhere sir?

  • @chrismarx85 The LH chords are Dm7, B-5, and C6 or {D-F-A-C}, {F-B-Eb}, and {E-G-A-D}. Very nice.

  • Great! I've been goofing around with piano etc. forever, think I will get serious (again). This is the kind of thing I want to do much more of... great video, great lick. Thank you!

  • @Haggs212 Woah kid...settle down. You should be THANKFUL that he even put a video up so a person like you could watch in the comfort of their home and learn. Show some respect kid, and grow up. The tempo is slowed drastically and you still complain?! You disgrace musicians everywhere with your attitude...it's revolting that people like you even exist. You are a waste of carbon and I hope you live a long life and watch your family members die horrible deaths. Prick. Great video Chris. Good job!

  • how about you fucking play it slower so we can actually learn how to play it

  • this lick IS famous!
