I'm listening on a local repeater on 442.875 and I noticed some interference opening the squelch periodically. It does not trip the repeater. I opened the squelch and recorded the interference. Any ideas what this might be? Seems like multiple sources including King County Transit. Scanning the band I found similar if not the same interference on other frequencies.

  • Most likely it's bleed over from other frequencies. Your also probably near a tower site, high powered repeaters and pagers easily overload receivers. I hear the same similar activity on certain frequencies. The repeaters at the sites have filters to keep out the other interference.

  • Sounds like a pretty strong case of IMD.

How near is your repeater to other transmitters?
