Description:
The C151As are the latest series of rolling stock to hit the East West Line and North South Line. Introduced in 2011, the C151A series comprise of 22 trainsets of six cars each. Only eight trainsets have been delivered as of late May 2011.
The trains were ordered as part of the expansion of Jurong East Interchange to include a new platform for the North South Line to ease congestion on the line which had to share a single middle platform at Jurong East to turn around and head southbound towards Marina Bay.
First introduced into service on 27th May 2011, four of the C151As made their debut into passenger service. However, in the midst of the day, all of them broke down and were taken out of service only after a few hours into revenue service. The problem: Failure of Automated Train Operation and some glitches to the announcement system onboard the train. It is unknown whether the glitches has been resolved. Five trainsets of the class were re-introduced into service on 30th May 2011.
According to Land Transport Authority, all 22 C151A trainsets will arrive in Singapore by December 2011.
The C151As was contracted to Kawasaki Heavy Industries and CSR Sifang Locomotive Company in 2009 and the first completed trainset was delivered in Jaunary 2011. The train features Fuji Electric traction motors to provide powering current to the wheels. The train runs on third rail.

@tranzort08 The camera used for the interior video is from a Macbook Pro. Macbook Pro's webcam is inverted which is kind of irritating in a sense.

@spartan117ism Not really. If you noticed, there was a watermark on the C151A exterior videos because it's from Benjamin Goh. I didn't have time to shoot the C151As so i had to make do with archival footage of test runs that i currently have with permission from Benjamin Goh (I used them in a previous video project).
