The master architect, Sting! Such structure...the likes of a love affiair. With low profile playfulness, foreplay and then orgasmic ending! Only Sting has numerous ways the send the same message!
When Sting embarked on his solo career, he didn't throw his tenure with the Police out the window; on this live double album from his Dream of the Blue Turtles tour, he reworks some odd selections from his old band's catalog in the expansive, jazz-inflected style of his new crew (which included saxophonist Branford Marsalis). These performances emphasize showmanship (solos, backup singers, and all) and they've got lots of crowd-pleasing moments, like the overwhelming swell of "I Burn for You" and a Caribbean clap-along on a medley of "One World" and "Love Is the Seventh Wave." But Sting's raw-steak voice has been affected by his band, too, and his phrasing on the quieter torch songs draws cleverly on jazz traditions.

  • Hakim is so fluid and musical, my all time No1. drummer. - Overall I think this was Stings finest solo band. Jazz royalty... Marsalis, Jones and Kirkland are superb too..

  • OMAR HAKIM RULES

  • Saw this group of musicians i.e. folks that play something,in kc back in mid-80's--over 25 yrs later, the music is still gooooood

  • Hakim = elite drummer, for sure!

  • genius(es) at work

  • Listened to this disc for years,..wish this version was on the CD. Omar's drumming is amazing.

  • 0 DISLIKES....something is right with the world.

  • "I burn for you" will become more long day by day duing this tour , this show is just the beginning of that

  • As I bought the disc, with a clip of Sting. I decided half clothing collection, this disc was not me. And when I heard the song I Burn For You, I wept. For me, as it blew a cold sweat. It's great, I said. I am from Azerbaijan and know little English. I hooked it.

  • Not all the arrangements have aged well from this era, but this one still gives the goosebumps, more so the version from the Live album
