  • @abram7117 more like 9.5. had the ancient 4spd auto with the really tall gears

  • @Mds9608 Im not real convised by that ecoboost. yeah its call good in in the Taurus, but the f150? Not sure how durable it is. If you pay close enough attention to fords "torture" tests, they are using the 6.2 in the tests. As for the 8 speeds, I would have to say Fuck Ford, Dodge, Nissan, and Toyota when they did that. Imagine the 6.2 with an 8 speed!! the powertrain would be capable of like 14,000 lbs of towing!!

  • @Motorfordtoyota That would be amazing. It would give those power trains a much better public opinion for sure. I wonder when GM is, or if they ever will, come out with a turbo charged engine like Ford's Ecoboost line of engines, those are amazing. I just don't know what their performance will be 10 years down the road though...

  • @Mds9608 Actually, GM has a trick up its sleeve that Chrysler has too. For GM's low-torque (aka, 4.3, 4.8, 5.3, 2.9, 3.7, ect. ect. RWD platforms they are developing an 8 speed auto!!!! That will make the relatively powerless (so to speak) 4.8 and bring it back to life with no mods! I wish GM would start putting their SIDI system in the truck engines, that would be awsome!

  • @Motorfordtoyota Or they could have at least improved the gearing! Then again, GM (and I'm a chevy guy!) uses a lot of tall gears in their 4-Speed transmissions, the impala can reach 100KM/H in FIRST gear! Thank god they updated that with direct injection and a 6 speed auto for 2012. I know it may help fuel economy, but that's just nuts. Too bad they didn't do that with the 2012 Silverado. 4 Speeds are dead, time to upgrade! Oh well, I can wait another year for the next gen GM trucks.

  • @Mds9608 I know!!, GM started using 4 speeds (700r4) in their pickups (I think) in 79!!!

  • @Motorfordtoyota yea lol, I had my doubts about the 4.8 compared with the 5.3, but i'm trading it in at 3 years when the new GM trucks come out, but anyway, the 4.8 does fine for my jobs. But i wish it has a 6 speed auto tho... not a 4 speed from the 80's, like wtf gm?

  • @Mds9608 Shocking. lol. jk

  • @Motorfordtoyota It does great with a 600 pound ATV in the rear.

  • @Mds9608 I can imagine it would stuggle with an atv. I rode in one a couple of times and DAMN what a slow truck. I think the 1988 4.3 is faster!

  • @Motorfordtoyota well for me, it was a matter of $8,000 lol. For how much I drive my 4.8 crew cab, i'm not going to save $8,000 in gas. Plus, I only have a truck to transport my ATV.
