Purchase Being Bobby Brown on DVD Today @ Black American Cinema

Being Bobby Brown was a reality series that depicted the life of R&B singer Bobby Brown and his mega-star then-wife, singer Whitney Houston, and their family. The series debuted on the Bravo channel on June 30, 2005, and became very highly rated, and restored a degree of celebrity to Bobby Brown[citation needed]. The network initially refused to air the program with Brown as the sole star and only greenlighted it when Houston agreed to be included in the regular cast[citation needed].

Ratings were so high, undoubtedly due to the presence of Houston[citation needed], that she received as much screen time as the show's title character. The program showcased the lives of the couple, including home time with the family, shopping at the famed Harrod's of London (where they met with owner Mohamed Al-Fayed), and vacationing in the Bahamas. Houston popularized the phrase "Hell to the no" on the series and was nominated for a VH-1 "Big In '05 Award" for "Quote of the Year"[citation needed]. This phrase also appeared on T-shirts[citation needed]. The Soup also featured Houston loudly shouting "Kiss my ass!" as a running gag, naming it its "Clip of the Year"[1]. Being Bobby Brown ran on Thursdays, but on occasion aired several times through the week. The highly-rated show ran for only one season as Houston did not agree to a second season; thus Brown and the Bravo network could not reach an agreement to continue the show[citation needed].

A DVD release was in the works in 2008 but never materialized as Houston did not give her approval for a DVD release

  • @TheSpazevedo What the hell's wrong with people like you? You always start by saying that you're "not here to judge," but then you proceed to JUDGE everyone who doesn't think exactly like you!

  • LOL "Stop fighting yourself!" hahahaa

  • @kristinchow I agree with you...it is hard to attempt to watch her homegoing service. I never met her but miss her as if she was my big sister. I love her and Bobby together too....if they could've just over-come what the public was scrutinizing, they would';ve survived as a couple. I love both of them and both of them are talented in their own arena. RIP Whitney <3

  • @MamaTrina No, it's not strange. Your just a caring human being.

  • This was some VERY entertaining reality TV - and I'm not big on reality shows. I LOVED the camping episode. I hope that's on here somewhere.

I really miss Whitney. I still don't have the heart to watch the recording of her funeral. Its strange, too, since I never met her. =( R.I.P., Whitney.

  • Did he call Whitney a twat at 4:08?!

  • BTW FUCK YOU BOBBY BROWN !!!

  • What's funny is that one day everyone here talkin shit is going to die. It's the most hypocritical dementia I have ever seen. Keep poking fun... she had an amazing voice, enough said. Everyone dies, not everyone really lives....niggas

  • Bobby is an asshole, come on you don't act like that in front of your kids. Have some class!
