Waste of resources? Its a man made material genius. Its not real gemstones. Its like metalflake in a paint. Its a coating process. They even tell you its artifical in color. Geez.

It's a synthetic gemstone based paint. It's the same as polycarbonate diamond or other man-made materials used in magnufacturing or otherwise.
I'm sure the application can be broadened to support other concepts.
