saw him at " the majestic Theater " Ventura ca . He came out sweet and clean , then started smoking . after the show caught him and his lady crossing the street . " hey , that was something brother " . ( BIG smile , thank you . )

I visited one of Doug's workshops here in New Zealand. I found it very interesting and really useful....and I enjoyed it. I had a bunch of questions for Doug and he was a really nice guy and more than happy to help.
On top of all that, he obviously gets a huge enjoyment out of playing....so really I don't give a damn about anything else cause he's making his mark in the world, he's a decent guy....AND he's having fun. That's what music is about isnt it?

Doug is a good player, there is no doubt... but it seems that most of these satch style players can't write and real songs. I mean, this is as entertaining as watching paint dry or grass grow.
Really good player though...

Don't think he does his teacher credit. Satch is much more versatile. It's all the same blues scale, with an overuse of the tremolo IMO. Not that I'm better, but I think he lacks creativity.
