Rita did hit southeast texas, just was on better side of storm as opposed to Lake Charles which was on dirty side or east side.

Oh Flossie...

I flew back home to the Big island from Oahu and travelled down to the SE corner of the island. I saw pretty big waves, but beyond that I couldn't believe how insignificant the impacts were. The winds never surpassed 30mph in my location, and it didn't rain more than a few sprinkles.

Yet I still had a blast!

Hawaii just got plain lucky that Flossie shifter due west so that they didn't get any rain, lucky them, but in 2005, wayy up here in SW Indiana, we got rolled over by Arlean, hmph.

This hurricane magically weakened before it hit us here on Big Island in summer of 07. I've never seen a storm do this before, living in the Gulf area I've been thru storms.

it was very bad but not as bad as the ones they get in the mainland. I know 6 people died, cost us 2.3 billion dollars of repairs, and many people we're left without homes.

yup we get it and when we do its a very big scare for us because our islands are only so small and a hurricane that bad we swallow us up. you should look up hurricanes like Iniki and Ewa the were the worse to hit us ever especially Iniki.

the music is a cool touch LOL on this one too ... did you know that AL Roker from the today show didnt even bother to mention there was a catagory 4 hurricane 2 days away from Hawaii ?! i swear even if there is a small depression in the Atlantic ocean a million miles away from the gulf they talk about it . whats up with that ?:)

I made this video just to show everyone the big scare we had and then nothing happened. to top it off we had a damn earth quake and then a tsunami scare, someone must really not like us.
