@dsoutherngent1 The debt is very much effected by the tax rates. Taxes are the government's income, and if you play with the percentages you can greatly effect the amount of REVENUE the government has to work with . In some instances a drop in the rate a bit can actually increase revenue through growth, but it's NEVER kept up with GDP, hence the large structural deficits. Even Reagan folks like Alan Greenspan, David Stockman and Bruce Bartlett concede that Supply side economics doesn't work.

@luvitluvitbaby Take the national debt out of your equation. Debt is a function of spending. Correlate the tax rates and GDP. Those 2 figures are functional. And you're right to point out Eisenhower's absurd tax rates. JFK showed the world that tax cuts spur rises is GDP. He gave us, at the time, greatest tax cut in American history. Something his brother HATED having brought to his attention. Keep money in the hands of the job creators, and you get growth, its that simple.

@dsoutherngent1 When Ronald Reagan took office on January 20, 1981 the top marginal rate was 70% and a national debt of around 900 billion. When he left on January 20, 1989 it was only 28% and a national debt over 3.2 trillion! Now, Consider during Eisenhower's Presidency the top marginal rate was as high as 90%! Also the average tax rate under Reagan in 1983 before many of his tax hikes was 11.06%, but under Obama with the Stimulus and Bush tax cuts extended the average is only 4.68%!

@luvitluvitbaby What was the top marginal tax rate when Jimmy Carter left office...and what was it when Reagan left office? Just answer that honestly and you can forget that democrat talking point
-
@dsoutherngent1 Reagan doubled tax revenue because he RAISED taxes 11 times during his Presidency! Obama and Bush have not! The conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan marked the first time in our history that we went to war and did not raise taxes. There used to be a time that conservative Republicans would only raise taxes if they absolutely had to, today they would never raise taxes under any circumstances even if it meant the destruction of the union!

Obama done fucked up this country. One couldn't do any worse. 2.5 million jobs lost. He doubled the unemployment. Lowered the USA's status. High food prices, high gas prices, bad housing market. Wasted stimulus money. Obama needs to go. And anyone that votes for him needs to go too.
