  • I would think the D version was a bit more updated than that. Was this an A or B Cat that was upgreaded to D standard??

  • Skippy585, what do you mean by "a bit more updated than that"?

  • @2ndAsstJizzMopper

Dude, take a look at all the analog gauges and compare it to what you would find in a older jet like the F-4 Phantom (front seat) Not a whole lot of difference huh? As a matter of fact it would have been interesting if congress had approved funding of a E version with upgraded GE or PW power plants an all glass cockpit like that of the Super Hornet or F-15E. Yeah I would still expect to find some analog gauges still there but not nearly as many.

  • Skippy585, bear in mind that the HUD is a form of glass cockpit, and the panel hardly looks techno-fresh when the power's off. anyway, this video is from '96, not '06.

  • I doubt half of these gauges, knobs and buttons are used. all just for show!

  • leefuji, you're on to them.

I think the F-111 would have made a great naval bomber had it not been to large for the carrier flight deck.

And the F-15 was just to great of a plane not for the AF not to have.

  • @CaptainGaruda You talking about the TF-30 VS F110-400? Yes they had a bit more power. 27K vs 20-23K of max thrust. Be even the GE 110 at that power setting really didn't do it justice. Now if the Navy choice the F-100-129 or GE 101 rated between 30, 31 k pounds of thrust then now were're talking.
