Will your Bug Out Bag be useless when the SHTF?

This video is about my personal Bug Out Bag philosophy. I know everybody has strong opinions on what exactly Bug out Bags are for, and what should and shouldn't be in them. This is just my personal opinion about BOBs and how they should be structured to achieve maximum utility regardless of the disaster scenario.

Again, a bag full of money is the best bug out bag of all. Don't trust U.S. currency even though it continues to be honored everywhere? Then fill it up with gold coins, Canadian dollars, or whatever you choose. Civilization is not going to end worldwide no matter what and you are an idiot if you think so.

If you're still not sure on the modular thing, 5.11 has great bags that hook up in a tier system. They're a little pricy, but they're excellent quality, and have a multitude of pockets for organization without sacrificing main compartment space.

One thing about "What you would take with you" is what would you absolutely NOT want to lave behind. If a hurricane comes would you leave your AR15 behind? I don't think so.. Looters would have a field day picking through your house.. So that is a good reason to Cache or bury some of your items in a water tight container in another location, as Out of Site-Out of Mind. All good info to ponder over and create a plan. Just my take.. Every little bit you do today helps in the long run.

I am not saying end of the world I am saying the end of an empire...and it happens....always has and always will. But anything from a flood to a fire to a robbery or power outage are all reason enough to prepare for your family.

What is the point of carrying 4 days of food? We can easily survive 3 weeks and longer without food but not much longer than 3 days without clean drinking water and this is part of the nonsense of a bug out bag. Since lack of water will kill you long before lack of food will you are much better off forgetting the bug out bag and simply carrying as much water as you can.
