A Day on Tristan Da Cunha

I was lucky enough to spend one full day on the remotest island in the world. Tristan Da Cunha is remarkably beautiful--a giant green and black volcano in the very middle of the South Atlantic. The people, one of the most isolated populations on earth, are so hospitable and friendly--I was honored to be able to meet so many of them.

Tristan da Cunha is the most remote inhabited island on Earth, and the most remote archipelago. Bouvet Island, an uninhabited Norwegian island in the Southern Ocean, is the most remote single island.

@johndavies115 I wonder if it doesn't have to do with the introduction of Seventh Day Adventism to Pitcairn. Nothing like the restrictive, unpermissive, suffocating thumb of religion to squeeze all of the fun out of island living. (Full disclosure: I read Dea Birkett's "Serpent In Paradise" last year). They seem to have gotten it right on Tristan. The complaints of things being dull strike me as no different from a young man from a small town in my own country.
