  • Hate to be the cynical one, but '89 had to be the Who's lamest period. Great song though.

  • I can't disagree with you, but even this "Who on ice"-period had its moments.

  • Which cd is this on?

  • It's on Pete Townshend's solo album from 1989 "The Iron Man: A Musical".

  • After years of watching the 1999-present Who, it's funny to see Pete playing acoustic. Gotta love it with the crowd cheering when he switched over to his Strat :)

  • I'll drink to that!

  • @eduardoisland It was the 25th anniversary tour. Only happened because Pete started enjoying playing again with his band Deep End in 85 and 86. The last Who tour in 82 may have had more original songs being played for the first time, but then that wasn't the point of this tour. And Simon Phillips was by far the best drummer for the band after Moon. IMHO.

  • worst tour ever

  • As a great fan of The Who this is where they lost it. Touring just to keep the cash rolling in but offering nothing new. Nothing wrong in that when you look at their back catalogue 1968 to 1977.

In this Roger looks like some old bloke who's entered a Simon Le Bon look-a-like competition at Butlins after one too many lager shandies.

  • it was a great tour

  • The Who with Simon Phillips on drums was their best period after the death of Moon.

  • @surfmb70 - Moon had been dead for...what....eleven years by that time?

  • They had the Los Angeles show on this tour on Pay Per View. I bought it and videotaped.

It was great. Lame? No, I don't think so!

  • The last great Who song.

  • Someone sounded terribly flat and wavering in the chorus "The old ones have seen two wars". Im sure the band was missing moon too drums sound terrible. still a great song tho

    - long live rock

  • MY FAVOURITE BAND FOREVER!
