Giant Hogweed ( Heracleum mantegazzianum )

This is a video of giant hogweed, a plant native to the Caucasus region, but growing here in Germany, next to the danube river. One should at all costs not handle this plant without full body protection, as it can cause servere burnings if the skin is exposed to the sun ( 2nd degree burnings ). There have been many hospitalisations because of this plant. Also, on a very hot and sunny day, one should not stand next to the plant for too long, as it can cause burnings and difficulty breathing because of furanocoumarines which it gives off to the air.
