I've been meaning to do this a while. I essentially took the video of the space combat in the Battle of Endor from Star Wars Episode VI and edited it together in the style of the climax from "The Battle of Britain."

For those who haven't seen "The Battle of Britain" (and you should, great movie - I have clips from it uploaded) the climax features the RAF and Luftwaffe going head to head with this music used, and no other sounds. It's a bit like what Kurosawa later did in "Ran" with the massacre of the samurai.

Any way, enjoy.

  • X-wings are the Spitfires,

    Y-Fighters are the Hurricanes,

    TIE Fighters are the Me109,

  • @veteran2000 The Star Destroyers are the Heinkels :)

  • Just how many of the human casualties were 'Polish' as in the B of B? I hope they scored many 'kills' against the evil empire.

  • @bournemouth1964 Actually the Mon Calamari were the Poles.

  • The cockpit of one of those spacecraft looked like a Heinkel He 111, wouldn't have stood much of a chance against the 'spitfires' and 'hurricanes' of the RAF Jedi methinks.

  • @bournemouth1964 Funny you say that. I recently heard that a lot of the original Star War models were a hodgepodge of pieces designers took from old World War II kits.

  • which ones fiction?

  • Good work. One story is fact, one fiction, but they have one thing in common: both are epic, backs-to-the-wall struggles for survival. That's why this fusion works so well.

  • The agility yet awkwardness of the TIE fighter reminds me of a Stuka. BTW Henry, why are the Mon Calamari considered to represent the poles. I would think the wookies ......

  • @HenryvKeiper The Millenium Falcon is the De Havilland Mosquito. I know it was not used in the Battle of Britain but can you think of a better aircraft to represent it?

  • Come in Blue Two?

  • May the Royal Air Force be with you!

  • @HenryvKeiper One good example - cockpit of the Millenium Falcon based on the nose of a B-29 Superfortress!
