I thought I'd finally show off my level layout for Marble Garden Act 1 in my untitled S3K hack. It's been in a more or less completed state for a while so I thought I'd keep people up to date with progress and how things are going.

The palette I made usually gets mixed feelings as to whether it works or not but I rather like it and think it does a good job of giving the level a facelift of sorts.

(On a side note, this is all WIP and is subject to change at any time in the final version)

  • Do you know where the location on the hex editor for the stage clear music is? Because I can't find it.

  • Unfortunately, I don't. If I can find my old list of music pointer locations, I'll be sure to let you know though.

Actually never mind I just figured it out. The location is E63C0.

  • Yes! I'm loving this! Much better fit.

  • I don't understand. You have to have "split" a Sonic 3 rom and a Sonic & Knuckles rom into the right files for use with the disassembly, then load a project file with SonED2. The project files themselves are only pointers to the actual data. If you don't have a disassembly set up correctly, they won't work.

  • @SonikkuHedgehog How'd you do it without the project files?

  • I used SonED2 with a disassembly for that. ESEII won't get you far in that regard.

  • @SonikkuHedgehog Did you use a hex editor or a tool for the layout changes? ESEII doesn't do anything and I can't find a good link for ChaoSaX-Zone.

  • sounds like djyuzoboy's snes remix

  • Darn... I would have been really great to see someone with your skill in level editing. The level editor itself is much better than SonEd2 and can work much faster. So you can totally give this up, and work at a faster pace with a much more beautiful editor (I am actually one of the main project leaders) and work with HD graphics. But I guess I cant force you, I just thought you would have fun and it would be a wonderful experience for you. If you ever change your mind, tell me :)
