http://blog.heritage.org/2011/10/04/video-how-rep-darrell-issa-would-save-the... | The U.S. Postal Service faces a bleak future without reform. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), a successful businessman before coming to Congress, has just the plan to save it from financial collapse.

Issa's plan is the most comprehensive proposal put forward -- and also more politically palatable than the plan offered by the White House. It recognizes the important services provided by the Postal Services and stresses efficiency to make the government-owned enterprise run like a private business. USPS lost $8.5 billion last year.

  • @Camperman2 wasn't this the same guy who believed that smart meters were some evil conspiracy?

  • @DJOKIE You're right..lets just keep digging that hole and losing money. What could that possibly hurt?

  • Issa's plan would put 10,000-100,000 workers out of work and on to the unemployment lines. Where will these workers find jobs, Issa? Those that retire will put an even bigger strain on Social Security. Not a good solution!!

  • Digging 10 million in debt thanks to Bush and the republican manufactured crises by signing in to law that the postal service has to pay 75 years worth of retirement health benefits in 10 years. Something NO other Company or Corp. Has to do .. If not for that we would have made a profit this year even with the worst recetion in 50 years

  • @3martijns They have a union which makes it hard for them to get fired; they could care less about doing their job right... I know from personal experience dealing with them.

  • The PO gives Lavish Benefits to their employees and retirees.

My local branch is very aloof when I tell them about problems.

I regularly get mail that belongs to various neighbors.

  • Nah man, that makes too much sense.
