Why buy a tree every year that you are going to throw away when you could make your own that you can keep year after year. Meg's show us how-to make a retro inspired tinsel tree plus shares some other great tree alternatives. • That's cool. I'd make more branches to fill it in more though.

  • Is it true that it's unsafe to put lights on a metal tinsel tree because it will short out?

  • We always buy a real tree, but I'm gonna make my own 4 my room!!!

  • i live in an area very close to the woods so you can by a 10 dollor pernmit go out in the woods and pick your own its a win for everyone the fire department dosnt need to thin the trees as much and people get the exact tree they want

  • Really cool...

    And I love your hound!!!

  • Where's the color wheel?!

    I love aluminum trees!

  • yes I included the note on "tinsel garland" for that very reason. I know originally garland was made of actual evergreen boughs. It's not that it's wrong to call it tinsel it's just not how I do it and it's how I have always heard it done.

  • tinsel can be used as a garland but a garland does not need to be made of tinsel.

  • the word branches has now lost all meaning to me.

  • Hahahaha, you're right.

    I call it garland too.

  • I don't don't know about everyone else but I call it garland. It annoyed me every time she called it tinsel.

I guess it can be called "tinsel garland" but still, to me tinsel is the loose strands of silver that you throw on the tree and gets everywhere.
