Your comment contains no discernable or qualified argument or criticism.

It was simply arrogant suggestive nonsense.

  • @Enginmaster That is too much information to post in comments.

It is best described in the vedic encyclopedia here -

htp veda. harekrsna. cz / encyclopedia / dharma . htm

Suffice to say the there is the jiva-atma and the param-atma as well ass the gross and subtle material body. Read through it if you like.

  • @hdregmore Does the soul as you define it interact with any memories/store them? Does it move muscles? If it interacts with nothing in a definite manner, how is the soul yours?

  • @Enginmaster The jivaatman is the individual soul and paramatma is the supersoul of "lord in the heart". It is a connection with God.

"The individual soul, deluded by material energy, tries to enjoy the activities of particular types of bodies offered by material nature, but the Supersoul is present not as finite enjoyer nor as one taking part in bodily activities, but as the witness and permission giver. He is present within to sanction the individual soul's desires for material enjoyment."

  • @hdregmore Does it actually have a purpose? Does it do anything?

  • @Enginmaster My views are pretty straight forward. As for the soul, I believe that it is not material in essence so there is no empirical evidence that can prove it's existence. This is slightly different than the Hindu belief where the soul is known as the jivatman and cannot be seen by "normal vision". It is purported to be hidden in the cave of the innermost heart chamber.

  • @hdregmore Indeed, he would mimick your hand if you swam it just outside his tank in a cowfish shape. Sadly he too passed. Fishes' main prospects in life are to die it seems.

Anyway, if you wish to discuss gods or souls, you should define which ones you wish to know about with respect to why an atheist wouldn't believe in it. We typically do not try to do an exhaustive analysis of all ideas, as there's potential for infinite ones re: those subjects, especially with flexible definitions thereof.

  • @Enginmaster Sounds like a smart little bastard that one. I like him.

  • @hdregmore Nah, the cutest and most intelligent fish I ever saw. Related to boxfish, but with horns above his eyes. It's a naturally evolved defense mechanism though. His scales ossified first to be a box, harder to cut with teeth, then the spikes make him harder to get a mouth around for any given amount of meat he could offer and any given developmental age. But he also likes to murder other animals in the tank. All the nonfish feared him.

  • @Enginmaster What is a cowfish? It sounds like an abomination of evolution.
