Inspired by this video from CrossFit 515 - http://bit.ly/mMPQZ5 - I wanted to see how a muscle-up on two ropes and one rope felt.

Two ropes was pretty easy, just a major strain on the thumb side of the wrists.

One rope was easy to get my first elbow over, but I haven't any idea how to push out and balance the body.

I used my legs in attempt #2 - did I get enough lock-out to be considered a success? Let me know your thoughts and post up your attempts!

  • @jrk987 Definitely a double rope muscle up. Tough on the wrists and you need to pull hard.

  • Great stuff. Have you tried one arm muscle ups on a bar (so starting in the OAC position then transition to a one arm dip)? I was wondering if that is humanly possible. But it's probably possible for beasts.

  • @Sooftah Search for acrobat Yury Tikhonovich, there's a video of him doing a one arm muscle-up to one arm elbow lever to one arm handstand. Most unreal thing you've ever seen. I referenced it in the assisted one arm muscle up on rings video I shot about a year ago.

    i can imagine a real world scenario in which you had to do a one rope muscle up... a vine hanging from the bottom of a lip on a cliff... to get over the lip, you need to muscle up in order to gain the position to slap an arm over the top of the lip and try to pull yourself up ;)

  • @U2Bjunky Dude, it was with 2 ropes not bars, lighten up, holy fuck.

  • incredible strength, but the one-rope version looked awkward. a real one-rope muscle-up is when both rope ends are tied to the ceiling, or walls or something and you're working on the middle of the rope.

  • A true muscle up is not done by any swinging. I'm not dissing the strength just the technique.
