Women's Caucus for Art 2011 Conference
Live Space: women · art · activism
NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 10-14
Welcome to the Conference

THE EXCERPT BELOW IS FROM THE CONFERENCE CATALOG

We would like to welcome you to the Women's Caucus for Art 2011 Conference 'LIVE SPACE: women + art + activism.'

The concept of LIVE SPACE is two‐fold: first it describes art that is happening in the moment, and second, art that is energetic, stimulating and electric. LIVE SPACE will be happening not only all over NEW YORK city but also in cities across the U.S. through the use of social networking, blogging, YouTube, and twitter.

WCA is incorporating LIVE SPACE not only into its exhibitions, panels and bus tours but also into in every aspect of the conference. From video updates at the Lifetime Achievement Awards and LIVE SPACE gala, to performance art on YouTube, to live art happenings in the Hilton, the WCA conference will be in the moment, exciting and electric. It is an event not to be missed.

Thursday will be a jam-packed day of panels, performances, networking and exhibitions including the reception for the JWAN exhibition, Sanctuaries in Time and the Young Women's Caucus performance, What Women Want. The WCA KNIT IN, part performance, part political statement will be taking place throughout the CAA conference.
Friday will feature Video Art Festival at the WCA reception at CAA followed by a bus tour featuring the Sackler Center for Feminist Art, A.I.R. Gallery, the WCA New York members' exhibition and the reception for the WCA national exhibition, Hidden Cities.
Saturday begins with the Chapter Council meeting; the TFAP panels and culminates in the Lifetime Achievement Awards and Live Space Gala at the American Folk Art Museum.
For those staying over, Sunday includes a wonderful bus tour: Art at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey
Brodsky Center for Innovative Editions, Institute for Women and Art, and Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum; in collaboration with the Women's Caucus for Art.
Monday is the national WCA board meeting at Barnard.

A special thank you to the many volunteers who put in hundreds of hours to make this conference a success!

We hope you enjoy the exciting and wide array of activities that make up
LIVE SPACE.
