Victrola Record (RS) 88327 "Carmen—Canzone del Toreador" (Toreador Song) (Bizet) Pasquale Amato (Italian baritone) accompanied by Victor Orchestra. First issued circa 1912. Played on my VV-VIa.

For this record, I switched to the Exhibition Sound-Box, and slowed the turntable down to approximately 76.60 RPM.

  • Pasquale Amato always have been my favourite baritone. The most amazing - in my opinion - is his somewhere nervous timbre. A great personality, musician and a marvolous interpreter.

  • Because the soundbox disigne for very VERY old records. Some Exhibition are on a Horn gramophone. But a Hmv No.4 does to a good job! And for records of the date 1928 or futher, could you use a Hmv no.5A.

  • I love the music of Carmen. A lovelly old record!!! I read that you have put the original soundbox on the gramophone. Nice and great sound!!! Thanks

  • Such a command over one's voice.. truly amazing.

  • Yes, kspm01, I have a newfound respect for the Exhibition, particularly on a narrow Taper-Tube of the VV-VI and VV-IV it's a perfect match I think, with pre-1920 records. Regards, J.
