Because the soundbox disigne for very VERY old records. Some Exhibition are on a Horn gramophone. But a Hmv No.4 does to a good job! And for records of the date 1928 or futher, could you use a Hmv no.5A.

La canzone del toreador,dalla Carmen di Bizet,è tutt'altro che un brano facile come verrebbe da pensare,prova ne è che da tempo la sentiamo cantare quasi sempre senza alcuna fantasia (maccheronicamente) e con sforzo.Il baritono Amato la esegue invece con una varietà di accento e di colori tali da conferirle fierezza,dignità e grinta, caratteristiche che sono proprie del personaggio di Escamillo.

Yes, kspm01, I have a newfound respect for the Exhibition, particularly on a narrow Taper-Tube of the VV-VI and VV-IV it's a perfect match I think, with pre-1920 records. Regards, J.
Pasquale Amato always have been my favourite baritone. The most amazing - in my opinion - is his somewhere nervous timbre. A great personality, musician and a marvolous interpreter.
